About Me
I am Kayla Fermanian, a composer, arranger, and producer with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Biola University, where I also minored in Biblical Studies. My journey began with piano and choir, and over time, my passion for storytelling grew through choral music, film scores, and video game soundtracks. This led me to compose, blending my love for music and narrative.

I was honored to be a winner of Biola’s A Piacere Competition of 2022 and 2023, for solo harp and solo organ. I also received the 2023 Rayner Brown Composition Award, which recognized my dedication, technical skill, creativity, and hard work. These achievements were meaningful milestones, but more than anything, they reminded me of the joy of creating music that resonates with others.
For me, writing music isn’t just about putting notes on a page—it’s about crafting something that speaks to people, evokes emotion, and tells a story. I believe that every piece should serve a purpose, whether to inspire, connect, or transport listeners to another world. I create with that intention, ensuring that every melody, harmony, and texture is deliberate and meaningful. As I continue my journey in music and production, I am eager to explore opportunities that allow me to blend my love for music, film, video games, and storytelling.
During my time at Biola, I was a member of the Biola Chorale and had the opportunity to perform at festivals, ACDA conferences, and national tours. I was fortunate to study under esteemed composers in both concert and film music, refining my craft through private lessons, orchestration studies, and hands-on experiences. This included recording sessions, sound design projects, and re-scoring film cues. One of the most rewarding moments of my journey was organizing and managing a concert featuring my own works, allowing me to bring my music to life. That experience shaped my creative approach, reinforcing my belief that music thrives in collaboration. I've had the privilege of working with professional musicians and further developing my skills through the Music Creator’s Academy Workshop, where I learned from industry professionals in video game music.
